Books
Some of our favorites
In our natural soap store we used a variety of books to help us create natural and therapeutic products. There are books that truly promoting natural ingredients and some that are promoting do it yourself products, which are not always natural.
Some of our favourites are:
- The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Healing Remedies
By C. Norman Shealy, MD, PhD
Element Books Ltd.
- Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 2nd and 3rd Editions
By James F. Balch, MD and Phyllis A. Balch, CNC
Avery Publishing Group
If looking for soap making books, you have two methods of soap making to choose from. One is cold process soap, which is using a base of oils, water, lye and any choice of scents and colour, and letting it cure for 2 months before usage. The other is the Melt and Pour version. This is simply melting the glycerine base, which is already a soap as is, adding your scents and colours, pouring into molds and once cooled and hardened, it is ready for use.
Besides soap, essential oils are a whole new world of knowledge. Once you start experimenting with essential oils and seeing the positive results, you’ll find yourself seeking more ways to add healthful benefits to your life. Such as herbal teas, avoiding negative influences, maybe even meditating.
